sittin' here, procrastinating...

Once again, I find myself avoiding my reading. This time I'm posting here. It seems like I almost always post on here when I don't feel like doing my work. Surprise, surprise. Oh well, I guess that's just the way it is.

I've decided that I miss Cora's Pizza. For some reason, that just popped into my head. It's one of the pizza joints right across from the Athletic Centre at UofT. mmm... Cora's. Always good for a late night slice. I think I'll have to go there when I go to Toronto over spring break.

Speaking of Toronto, the Imaginus poster sale that came to campus a few times a year was out at UofM this week. I went down to get some posters to decorate my apartment, whose walls were nearly barren. (is that how you spell barren? it doesn't look right). I got four posters. I think my favourite is the Ocean's Eleven poster...

I am in the homestretch as far as B.Ed/Teacher's College applications go. I'm pretty much done my first draft of my personal statement of experience for Queen's. Once that one is done, all I've got left is the one for UofM. Then that will be it for a while. The countdown to April 3rd will be on. Does it really take that long? I put in the applications December 1st.... argh.

In other news, I'm getting a little concerned over our upcoming election. I really have no desire to see Canada with Stephen Harper as Prime Minister. I won't get into it now, but really, I have no desire to live with a hidden right-wing agenda... I also really like our current Liberal MP. I've met her a few times through my mom - my mom knew her through teaching. I think she's done a good job and it helps that I like her as a person as well. But, regardless of who you vote for, January 23, JUST VOTE.

Before I go, I just want to say one more thing. If you haven't seen Munich, go see it. Before it's out of the theaters. Go. Now.

no joke.

Seriously. This sign is in the playground by my apartment.

Still on Break

Yep, that's right, I'm still enjoying my winter break. One of the perks of the job. I love it. I also loved New Years Eve. I went with Sara and Chris and their friends to a potluck dinner (awesome) and then to the Pyramid for Inward Eye. Moses Mayes (a Winnipeg institution, apparently) also played, but I barely noticed. Inward Eye, on the other hand, was awesome. Their music is amazing and their live show is one of the best I've ever seen (kinda reminds me of Franz Ferdinand when we saw them in TO a while ago). Check them out here and here. They are definitely the next big thing to come out of Winnipeg - I'd say bigger than The Weakerthans and maybe even The Watchmen. Yeah, I said it, bigger than The Watchmen...

In other news, I'm loving my new camera. I can't wait to get the lcd screen protector so that I can start taking the camera around with me without worrying that I'm going to kill it... Speaking of cameras, I can't wait to see Chris' NYE pictures from his camera - should be good. I'll post a few of the keepers here, when I get 'em. Here's one of the first pictures from my little camera: Yes, I know, a self-portrait or something like that, but it only gets better from here...

I booked my flight to Toronto for Spring Break earlier this week. I'm gonna be there for a week at the end of March. I can't wait. Then, as soon as I get back to Winnipeg, the Ontario schools will be releasing their Teachers' College admission decisions...

The World Jrs. Hockey gold medal game was tonight. Great game for the Canadians with a huge 5-0 (well, really 5-1) win. A repeat of last year's gold medal victory, albeit with a very different team compared with last year's loaded team. I was impressed by Steve Downie's play - his grit, his tough grinding. Awesome. I know he's a little controversial, and I'm sure I don't know the whole story, but whatever. I like the way he played. Damn right.

And that, my friends, that's the way it was.
